Baby Led Weaning

Now that I have a kid (I used to always start my posts with "if/when" I have a kid), I plan to let him control his weaning from breastmilk.

My hope it to avoid the mashes spoon feeding thing all together by following the tenets of baby led weaning.  Rumor has it that this method helps to reduce picky eating and to me it just seems to encourage mutual respect between parent and child.

I'll probably pick up this book. It's released right about the time Bobby should be ready to start trying this.

There's also a community on LJ babyledweaners

I'll be doing my own version of this: single food mashes offered with optional spoon to weed out allergies, and then table food after single foods have been cycled through, but she'll be getting my milk for at least a year.
